The Waters of Baptism!

Image
When we were packing to serve our mission, I looked at my temple clothes and wondered if I should bring my white pants and white tie in case I was able to baptize. However, I rationalized that with us working in the office, there would never be an opportunity to use them. Well, I was wrong! Earlier this week we went to help the Hermanas with a problem in their piso, and after we got it fixed, they told me that their friend had requested that I be the one to baptize him. I was shocked. I didn't even think I knew him, and I didn't think that he knew me, but they assured me that he did, and had asked for me personally. Well, it turns out that he had come to institute and liked something about Hermana Musser and me and so today I got to baptize him. His name is Joel Antonio Puerto Villas. I was able to borrow a pair of pants and a white tie from President Heckmann. Joel is a sweet young man and the Spirit was super strong. It was a great baptism. I was grateful to be able to be par...

Blog Post 52!

I can't believe that it has been a year since I started this blog! It doesn't seem that long. We have less than that time left. Don't know if I will continue the blog after we're home and settled or not. My guess is "not", but we will see. This week has been pretty hectic. We have been trying to move some sisters from one piso to another in Sabadell. It's about an hour away from Barcelona, and we've been out there a couple of times already. First with the assistants moving the big stuff, and then with just us to move small stuff. Started the work of cleaning, bought a washing machine for the new piso, and so forth. We also had to go out to Reus which is a little over an hour from Barcelona (down the coast) to look at another apartment. Looks like we will be renting that one, but will have to get some bunk beds, and other piso supplies as well as an Air Conditioner before we can move missionaries into it. We also looked at an apartment in Catarroja (do...

Officially Less Than A Year To Go!

Image
It's hard to believe that we officially now have less than 1 year to go on our mission! The old adage "Time flies when you're having fun" really does apply. It seems like the days are long, but the weeks are short, and the months just disappear!  This past week brought us some more adventures. We are learning that as much as we love these sweet missionaries, they're still kids that need to learn some "adulting". At first when we would get a call about an issue we would try to figure out how we could take care of it for the missionaries, which is right and good most of the time. However, we have found that it is also important to help them to help themselves. Case in point; we got a call a couple of weeks ago from some sisters. "We have cockroaches!" We told them to go and buy some bug-spray and roach traps, clean everything, and make sure that there are no dirty dishes left in the sink. We got another call the next week. "The roaches are ...

Wait..What?...It's July?!?!?!?

All right. Fess Up! Who stole June? I can't believe that June just kind of disappeared. A lot of craziness here and back home as well. However, we press forward. This past week we had zone conferences. We always need to be at two of the four to help feed the host of Israel. Sometimes there are some "loaves and fishes" involved. We have a fairly new crew in the office. 2 of the elders have only been there 1 transfer, and the other 2 are brand new. So, zone conference wasn't exactly the well-oiled machine it normally is. The way it's supposed to work is we set out all of the stuff that needs to go the night before. The elders load the MAV (Mission Assault Vehicle) and arrive at the stake center at about 0900. We all unload the MAV, and set up tables, chairs, table cloth paper, and place settings. They make sure the sound-system works. The President and Sister Heckmann show up a little before 1000 with the food that we need to get ready and conference starts at 1000....
