6 Months In The Mission

It's really hard to believe that as of Wednesday, we will have been on our mission for 6 months! Yet, we can't argue with the calendar. The only time if feels like we have been out a long time is when we think about home and family. The rest of the time we are just doing the best we can to keep up with all of the craziness that goes on in a mission office. Between keeping the bills paid, dealing with the endless phone calls (our place is dusty, we should get a humidifier...for clarification, the LAST thing we need in any of our pisos is more humidity! Fighting mold is a constant battle.), and dealing with opening and closing apartments there isn't much time to be homesick!

Working in the office does have its perks though. We usually take turns with the office elders in cooking lunch. Most of the time, we eat really well. This week we got a call from Sister Heckmann for us all to join them upstairs to eat lunch with them. I can't remember what it's called, but they have a couple of special grills where you cook meat and vegetables on top, and melt special cheese underneath. Couple that with miniature potatoes to add to the mix, and you can eat quite well. At least there is an entertainment value to the whole thing.

We typically can't get out of the office before about 6:30 which means we don't get home until it's almost time to go to bed. Friday's are even crazier because after getting home from work, we typically go over to the church to help out with institute which starts at 8:30 and we help serve dinner starting at 9:30. It is usually well past 11:00 that we get home. Good thing P-day is the next day so we don't have to set an alarm.

Speaking of P-day, after doing laundry and cleaning things up around the house, we realized that we didn't have any pictures to add to the blog, so we decided to go on an adventure. We went to a place called Montjuic. It used to be the Royal Palace and has now been converted into the national art museum. It's a couple of miles away, so it was a pretty good walk. However, we found it to be quite the adventure. At any rate, I now have some pictures to share with you. An added bonus is that you don't have to pay anything on Saturdays (p-day). We were only able to get through about 25% of the museum, and so we will have to go back again. However, it might be smarter to take the metro next time so we won't be so stiff the next day.

We are excited because in about an hour, we're going to go to a baptism of a really neat lady. She has already read the entire Book of Mormon, and is super excited to be baptized. I will be giving a talk on baptism, which represents the first time that I will be giving a talk in Spanish on my mission. I just hope that the old synapses will be firing like they should. (wish me luck!)

Anyway, we love you all and hope that even through the struggles and challenges that you face, you can feel the Savior's love for each of you as individuals. He really does love you! Time to start the next 6 months.
