Here We GO!
Today we were set apart as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was the culmination of a frantic week of trying to get last minute things done. The day started with being in two wonderful Sacrament Meetings. The first was our own ward where the focus was on what the Savior has done for each of us. The Spirit was strong and my testimony was strengthened. We then went to our son Adam's meeting as our grandson Peter played a musical number. It turned out to be a "tender mercy" for me that we were there. The speakers in that meeting were a couple who just got home from serving as an office couple in Arizona. We were really able to relate to them and we couldn't help but feel that the Lord was letting us know that we are in for a marvelous assignment. The closing hymn was "I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go". I've sung that hymn hundreds of times in my life, but it never hit me with the force that it hit me with today. By serving a mission for Him, we will know that we will be doing EXACTLY what He would have us be doing at this time in our lives. We later came home and had the family come to the house to witness us being set apart as full-time missionaries.
What a special experience to have our stake president, President Gallacher, put his hands on each of our heads and set us apart under the direction of the Prophet of the Lord. It's a truly special and humbling experience to be sure. He gave us some amazing promises and blessed us so that we would be able to speak the language (both of us!). He also promised that our sweet family would be all right while we're gone.
Tomorrow morning we will be entering the MTC between 0940 and 0950 (sounds like time over target language to me!)
I'm so excited for you both! What an awesome feeling it must be to know you are doing EXACTLY what The Lord wants you to be doing RIGHT NOW! I Love you SO MUCH!!
